Set Up Rank-Based Chat Colors for Different Player Groups
Configure Group Chat Formats
Each player group in LuckPerms can have its own chat appearance. The plugin reads your LuckPerms prefixes, suffixes, and group assignments to apply matching chat styles.
Steps:
1. Ensure all your player ranks are created in LuckPerms with prefixes and suffixes assigned (for example, a "Moderator" group with the prefix [MOD]).
2. Open the plugin's configuration file and locate the group formatting section.
3. Define a chat template for each group. Use MiniMessage tags like <color:#FF5733> for custom colors, or traditional color codes like &c for red.
4. Include placeholders for the player's prefix, name, and message (the plugin provides these automatically from LuckPerms data).
5. Save the configuration file.
6. Run /lpcf reload to apply the new formats.
Test Your Setup
Have a player from each rank join and send a chat message. Their name and prefix should display in the colors and style you defined. If a player's group has no custom format, the plugin falls back to track or global defaults.
Tip: Test with different item types held in hand to see how the [ITEM] tag interacts with your color scheme.
