How to Craft and Place Spellcaster Traps
Crafting the Three Trap Types
The mod adds three spellcaster trap blocks, each built with a shaped crafting recipe:
- Firebolt Spellcaster Trap — fires a firebolt effect.
- Frost Spike Spellcaster Trap — fires a frost spike effect.
- Frostbite Spellcaster Trap — fires a frostbite effect.
Gather the ingredients for the element you want, then arrange them in the shaped grid for that specific trap. Each trap is a separate recipe, so you cannot convert one into another after crafting — decide which effect you need before you start.
Placing Traps for Defense
Place spellcaster traps where mobs must walk. Good spots:
- Corridors and doorways so enemies pass through the firing line.
- Around your Draugr Chest storage so looters get hit.
- Along walls facing inward, not outward, so the trap covers your base interior.
Combining Traps with Staffs
If you already use Dragon Priest Frost Bite Staff or Dragon Priest Frost Spike Staff, the frost traps match that damage type and let you stack cold effects on the same target. The Firebolt Spellcaster Trap pairs with fire-focused builds instead. Place traps in staggered rows rather than one line — a single trap rarely finishes a mob, but two overlapping traps usually do. Keep a melee weapon like Ebony Axe ready for anything that survives the traps and reaches you.
