Crafting an Oak Crate Step by Step

Gather Oak Planks

An Oak Crate is one of the nine Market Crates. To make one, you need Oak Planks. Chop oak logs, then turn them into planks at a crafting table. A small stack of planks is enough for a single crate, but gathering extra lets you craft several at once.

Use the Shaped Recipe

Open a crafting table and arrange the Oak Planks in the shaped pattern for the Oak Crate. The recipe is shaped, so the position of each plank in the grid is fixed. Follow the same layout you would use for any other Market Crate, substituting Oak Planks for the wood type.

Once the grid matches, take the Oak Crate from the output slot. If nothing appears, your planks are in the wrong slots or you are using the wrong wood type.

Swapping Wood Types

Every crate follows the same shaped logic with its own wood. Replace Oak Planks with Birch Planks for a Birch Crate, Spruce Planks for a Spruce Crate, or Jungle Planks for a Jungle Crate. The same applies to Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Crimson, and Warped. This makes the Oak Crate a good template: learn the pattern once, then craft any of the nine crates by changing the plank material.
