Crafting Steel Plates, Rods, and Rivets

Plates and Rods

Steel Plate and Steel Rod are the two intermediate components you will craft most often. Both are made from Steel Ingot. Steel Plate feeds into heavier recipes such as armor and the Reinforced Flatter Hammer. Steel Rod feeds into tools, weapons, and small fittings.

Keep a stack of each on hand before starting a big build. Running out of Steel Rod mid-craft is the most common reason a tool recipe stalls.

Rivets for Assembly

Rivet is the fastener used when a recipe needs parts joined rather than stacked. Craft Rivets from Steel Nugget or Steel Rod depending on the recipe you are following, then combine them with plates and rods to finish the item. Rivets are consumed in batches, so craft more than you think you need.

Iron Components

Iron Plate and Iron Rod are the iron-tier equivalents and appear in early recipes before you have steel production running. Iron Plate and Iron Rod are made from Iron Ingot. Use them to bootstrap your first Flatter Hammer, then switch to steel components once Raw Steel is flowing.

The progression is: Iron Plate and Iron Rod for the first Flatter Hammer, Pig Iron Chunk into Raw Steel, Raw Steel into Steel Ingot, then Steel Plate, Steel Rod, and Rivet for everything after.
