How to Get Started with Mana and Artifice

Gather Your First Materials

Begin by mining Chimerite Ore, which drops Chimerite Gem and appears alongside the colored Chimerite Crystal blocks (Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan). Craft a Basic Table from basic materials to unlock early recipes. Use the Affinity Tinker Table once you have Chimerite Gems to shape your first wands and staves.

Your First Wand and Mana

Craft an Amethyst Wand or Chimerite Wand at the Basic Table. Wands and staves (Amethyst Staff, Chimerite Staff, Aum Staff, Cerublossom Staff, Blue Ice Staff) are your casting tools. Mana is drawn from the world and stored in these tools. Place a Brazier nearby for light and ritual use. Collect Cerublossom and Aum, both of which are plants used in manaweaving recipes.

Manaweaving Basics

Manaweaving recipes (mna:manaweaving-recipe) are performed by drawing patterns in the air with a wand. Open the Codex Arcana to see patterns you have unlocked. Craft an Animated Quill and Arcanist's Ink to write glyphs, and use Blank Glyphs to create Black, Blue, or Brown Glyphs for spell components.

First Progression Steps

Build an Altar of Arcana and surround it with Arcane Stone or Arcane Sandstone decoration blocks. Use the Altar for eldrin-altar recipes, which consume Animus Dust, Arcane Ash, and Arcane Compound. Smelt materials in an Arcane Furnace when you unlock it. Store your growing stock of Chimerite, glyphs, and charms in a Bookshelf-adjacent workspace so you can find them quickly.
