How to Craft Iron Gears and Use Magicite

Craft Iron Gears First

Iron Gears are the shared ingredient behind every armor component in the mod. Craft Iron Gears before attempting any armor recipe, since the Magitek Armor, Proto Armor, and Tunnel Armor parts all consume them. Keep an Iron Wrench in your inventory as the tool used alongside Iron Gears in these shaped recipes. Build a surplus of Iron Gears so a failed or repeated craft does not stall your armor assembly.

Handle Magicite

Magicite is a distinct registry item in the mod and is not one of the armor components. Treat it as a separate material to collect and store rather than as a substitute for Iron Gears in armor recipes. When you are ready to build armor, pull from your Iron Gear stock and your Iron Wrench, and leave Magicite aside unless a specific recipe calls for it. If a recipe will not accept your materials, confirm you are feeding it Iron Gears and not Magicite, since the two are different items and the armor recipes are shaped around Iron Gears.
