Barred Trapdoors and Mesh Trapdoors are the open, see-through options. Barred Trapdoors are available in Acacia, Birch, Cherry, Crimson, and Dark Oak. Mesh Trapdoors are available in Acacia, Birch, Cherry, Crimson, and Dark Oak as well.

Craft them

Both use crafting_shaped recipes with the matching wood planks. The Barred style reads as vertical bars; the Mesh style reads as a fine grid. Craft a stack of each in the wood you are using.

Where to place them

Use Barred Trapdoors for cage floors, ventilation grates, and mine shaft covers. Use Mesh Trapdoors for sieves, filters, and machine housings. Both open and close, so you can access whatever is behind them without breaking the block.
