How to Use Stonecutting for Roof Pieces

Why Stonecutting Matters

Most roof pieces in this mod are produced through stonecutting recipes. There are far more stonecutting recipes than shaped crafting recipes, so the stonecutter is the primary tool for converting raw materials into roof blocks.

Basic Workflow

1. Place a Stonecutter.

2. Insert the base material — for stone roofs, that means Andesite or Blackstone; for wood roofs, the matching planks or log.

3. Select the roof piece you want from the output list.

4. Take the output and place it in your build.

What You Can Produce

From a single input you can cut Acacia Roof, Acacia Planks Roof, Acacia Steep Base Roof, Acacia Steep Top Roof, Acacia Lower Base Roof, Acacia Lower Top Roof, Acacia Top Roof, and Acacia Attic Roof. The same family of outputs exists for Birch, Bamboo, Bamboo Planks, Bamboo Mosaic, Andesite, and Blackstone. Concrete and terracotta families such as Black Concrete and Black Terracotta also have their own roof piece sets.

When to Use Crafting Instead

Some pieces, including Base Roof Block, Base Roof Slab, and Base Roof, are made with shaped crafting recipes at a crafting table. Use the crafting table for those and the stonecutter for the material-specific roof shapes. Keeping both stations near your build site speeds up large roofs.
