How to Craft and Place a Basic Roof

Crafting the Base Pieces

Start with Base Roof Block, Base Roof Slab, and Base Roof. These are the foundation pieces every roof build uses. Craft them through the crafting table using the shaped recipes available for base roof components. Once you have Base Roof Block and Base Roof Slab in your inventory, you can begin laying out the footprint of your structure.

Building the Slope

Place Base Roof Block along the ridge line of your build. Attach Base Roof Slab to transition from full blocks down to thinner edges. For the sloped faces, use Base Steep Base Roof and Base Steep Top Roof together — the steep base sits at the bottom of the slope and the steep top caps it. For a gentler pitch, use Base Lower Base Roof and Base Lower Top Roof in the same stacked arrangement. Finish the peak with Base Top Roof and close the underside with Base Attic Roof.

Adding Drainage

Run Base Rain Gutter along the lower edge of the roof where water would collect. This piece sits at the eave line and visually caps the bottom of the slope.

Material Variants

Every step above works identically with wood and stone variants. Swap Base Roof Block for Acacia Roof Block equivalents such as Acacia Roof, Acacia Planks Roof, Andesite Roof, or Blackstone Roof depending on the look you want. The stacking order — base, steep or lower, top, attic — stays the same regardless of material.
