How to Use Gates: Curved, Pyramid, Highley, and Railing

Gate Types by Material

Wood gates include Curved, Pyramid, and Highley styles for Acacia, Bamboo, Birch, Cherry, Crimson, Dark Oak, Jungle, and Mangrove — for example, Acacia Curved Gate, Bamboo Highley Gate, and Cherry Pyramid Gate. Stone sets use Railing Gates such as Andesite Railing Gate, Blackstone Brick Railing Gate, Deepslate Railing Gate, and Granite Railing Gate. Metal sets use Bastion Metal Fence Gate, Curved Metal Fence Gate, and Majestic Metal Fence Gate.

Crafting a Gate

Wood gates are made with shaped crafting recipes using the matching wood. Stone Railing Gates are made by stonecutting the matching stone — Andesite, Blackstone Bricks, Deepslate, or Granite — in a stonecutter. Metal gates use shaped recipes with their metal ingredient.

Installing Gates in a Fence Line

Build your fence or wall first, then remove one block where you want the entrance. Place the gate in that gap. The gate connects to the fence blocks on either side, so a Curved Gate sits flush inside a run of Picket Fence, and a Railing Gate sits flush inside a run of Pillar Walls. Choose Curved for a rounded top, Pyramid for a peaked top, and Highley for a tall frame. Match the gate material to the surrounding fence so the line stays consistent.
