How to Make Hedges for Natural Boundaries

Hedges come in Acacia Hedge, Azalea Hedge, Birch Hedge, Cherry Hedge, Dark Oak Hedge, Flowering Azalea Hedge, Jungle Hedge, and Mangrove Hedge. They are leafy blocks that work as soft fences, garden borders, and maze walls.

Crafting a Hedge

Each wood Hedge is made with a shaped crafting recipe using materials from its wood type. Azalea Hedge and Flowering Azalea Hedge use azalea-related ingredients instead. Open a crafting table, follow the recipe for the hedge you want, and collect the blocks.

Building with Hedges

Place Hedges in a line to form a boundary that reads as a planted wall rather than a built fence. They connect to adjacent hedge and fence blocks, so you can transition from a Dark Oak Hedge into a Dark Oak Picket Fence or Dark Oak Stockade Fence without a gap. Use Flowering Azalea Hedge and Azalea Hedge together for a flowering garden edge, or run Cherry Hedge along a path for a lighter tone. To create an entrance, leave a gap and fill it with the matching wood's gate, such as a Cherry Curved Gate or Mangrove Pyramid Gate.
