How to Craft and Place a Picket Fence

Crafting the Fence

Picket Fences are available for every wood type: Acacia Picket Fence, Bamboo Picket Fence, Birch Picket Fence, Cherry Picket Fence, Crimson Picket Fence, Dark Oak Picket Fence, Jungle Picket Fence, and Mangrove Picket Fence. Each is made with a shaped crafting recipe using planks of the matching wood. Open a crafting table, arrange the planks in the standard fence pattern, and collect your Picket Fence blocks.

Placing and Connecting

Hold the Picket Fence and right-click on the ground to place it. Picket Fences connect to adjacent fence blocks and to solid blocks, so you can run them along a path or enclose a pen. To make a gate in the line, leave a one-block gap and fill it with the matching gate — for example, an Acacia Curved Gate or an Acacia Pyramid Gate. Break a Picket Fence with any tool or by hand to recover it.

Matching Your Build

Pair the Picket Fence with the same wood's Hedge, Stockade Fence, Horse Fence, or Wired Fence to vary the look along one wall. If you want a taller or more open style, swap a section for a Highley Gate or Curved Gate. Because every wood variant shares the same recipe logic, you can build a full perimeter in Acacia, then repeat the same steps in Birch or Dark Oak for a different area.
