How to Build Rail Bridges for Minecart Tracks

Choose a Rail Bridge

Rail Bridge blocks are the wood-only variant that carries minecart tracks across a gap. The available families are Acacia Rail Bridge, Birch Rail Bridge, Cherry Rail Bridge, Dark Oak Rail Bridge, Jungle Rail Bridge, Mangrove Rail Bridge, and Crimson Rail Bridge. Each pairs with the matching Bridge Stair and Bridge Support from the same wood.

Lay the Track

1. Craft the Rail Bridge block for your wood type.

2. Place a run of Rail Bridge blocks across the gap at rail height.

3. Cap both ends with the matching Bridge Stair so the deck meets the ground smoothly.

4. Place Bridge Support blocks under the span for the underside beams.

5. Run your rails directly on top of the Rail Bridge blocks.

Match the Surroundings

Use the same wood as the rest of your build. A Dark Oak Rail Bridge fits a dark oak station, a Cherry Rail Bridge suits cherry builds, and a Crimson Rail Bridge works in the Nether. If the span is long, break it with Bridge Support posts at intervals so the deck does not look unsupported. Add a Bridge Torch or Bridge Lantern on the supports to light the track.
