Adding Rail Bridges and Lighting to Crossings

Rail Bridge Options

Rail Bridge blocks let a minecart line cross a gap without separate rail placement. Available rail variants are Acacia Rail Bridge, Birch Rail Bridge, Cherry Rail Bridge, Crimson Rail Bridge, Dark Oak Rail Bridge, Jungle Rail Bridge, and Mangrove Rail Bridge. Craft the Rail Bridge from the matching wood planks, then place it in a continuous line where the track should run.

Combining with Supports and Stairs

Underneath a Rail Bridge span, place the matching Bridge Support (for example Acacia Bridge Support, Birch Bridge Support, Cherry Bridge Support, Crimson Bridge Support, Dark Oak Bridge Support, Jungle Bridge Support, or Mangrove Bridge Support) to brace the structure. At each end, use the matching Bridge Stair so the rail line descends to ground level smoothly.

Lighting the Crossing

Bridge Torch and Bridge Lantern are the two light sources. Place Bridge Torch on top of Bridge or Rail Bridge blocks for a small light. Place Bridge Lantern for a stronger light, useful at the middle of a long span or above a Pier.

Pier Placement

Where a Pier variant exists for your material (Andesite Bridge Pier, Asian Red Bridge Pier, Cobblestone Bridge Pier, Diorite Bridge Pier, End Stone Bricks Bridge Pier, Granite Bridge Pier, Mossy Cobblestone Bridge Pier, Nether Bricks Bridge Pier, Glass Bridge Pier), set one at each bank or at mid-span supports to visually anchor the bridge.
