Troubleshoot Flickering or Unstable Lighting

Check Temporal Stability Settings

Flickering often comes from frame-to-frame inconsistency in path tracing. Look for temporal filtering, denoising, or accumulation options in shader settings. Enabling or increasing these smooths lighting across frames.

Reduce Sample Variance

If lighting appears grainy or jumps between frames, lower the ray tracing sample count slightly. Fewer samples per frame can paradoxically feel more stable if temporal filtering is strong.

Verify Colored Light Sources

Flickering near colored light blocks (like stained glass or colored lamps) may indicate the shader is recalculating light contribution each frame. This is normal but can be reduced by lowering colored light intensity or disabling per-block color tracing if available.

Update and Verify Compatibility

Ensure your Iris loader is current and compatible with your Minecraft version. Flickering sometimes indicates a mismatch between shader and loader versions. Restart the game after adjusting settings to apply changes fully.
