Customize Lighting and Shadow Appearance

Access Lighting Controls

Open the shader settings menu and navigate to the lighting section. Lunaris Shaders separates sun ray effects from block shadow settings, letting you customize each independently.

Adjust Sun Rays

The volumetric sun rays create realistic light beams through clouds and terrain. You can control their intensity, spread, and visibility. Increase intensity for dramatic lighting during sunrise and sunset, or reduce it for a subtler effect during midday.

Fine-Tune Block Shadows

Block shadows are the soft shadows cast by blocks onto adjacent surfaces. Adjust shadow softness to make shadows blend smoothly or appear more defined. Shadow darkness can be increased for deeper contrast or reduced for a lighter, airier feel.

Test Different Times

Shader lighting changes dramatically throughout the day cycle. Visit your builds at different times—dawn, noon, dusk, and night—to see how your customized settings affect the overall atmosphere. Caves and enclosed spaces will show shadow detail most clearly.
