Adjust Lighting and Shadow Intensity for Your Playstyle

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings or shader menu). Look for the Luminous Classic Atmosphere configuration panel.

Customize Shadow and Light Levels

Locate sliders for shadow softness, shadow distance, and overall brightness. Reduce shadow intensity if you find caves too dark or prefer a brighter aesthetic. Increase shadow softness for gentler transitions between lit and shadowed areas.

Adjust sunlight and moonlight separately—this lets you fine-tune how bright daytime feels versus nighttime exploration. If you're playing survival and need better cave visibility, boost cave brightness without affecting surface lighting.

Test Your Changes

Move between different environments (surface, underground, different biomes) to see how adjustments feel in practice. Shadows cast by trees and buildings should look natural, not harsh or invisible.

Save your preferred settings so they persist across sessions. Most shader packs remember your last configuration automatically.
