Troubleshoot Water Rendering Issues
Verify Shader is Active
Confirm that Luminary Shaders is selected in your shader pack list (Video Settings > Shaders). The shader name should appear at the bottom of the screen.
Check Water Wave Appearance
If 3D waves aren't visible, access shader settings and ensure wave geometry is enabled. Look for toggles labeled "3D waves," "wave geometry," or similar. Some settings may require a world reload to take effect.
Resolve Flickering or Distortion
Flickering water often indicates a conflict with other mods or settings. Try disabling custom water textures temporarily, or adjust wave intensity to a lower value. Ensure your loader (Iris, Oculus, or OptiFine) is up to date.
Address Performance Drops Near Water
Water rendering is GPU-intensive. Reduce wave detail or lower water render distance in shader settings. This maintains the realistic movement effect while improving frame rate.
Test in Different Conditions
Water appearance changes based on lighting and fog. Test in both day and night, and in areas with varying fog density. If issues persist only in specific conditions, adjust fog or lighting settings rather than water itself.
If problems continue, verify your mod loader compatibility with Luminary.
