Optimize Shadow Quality for Performance
Locate Shadow Settings
Access your shader options and find the Shadows or Lighting category. This section controls how soft and detailed shadows appear across your world.
Adjust Shadow Parameters
Common options include:
- Shadow distance – controls how far shadows render from your character
- Shadow softness – higher values create gentler, more cinematic shadows
- Shadow resolution – affects sharpness; lower values improve performance on weaker systems
Balance Quality and Performance
If your frame rate drops significantly, reduce shadow distance first—this has the largest performance impact. Next, lower shadow resolution slightly. Keep shadow softness at a moderate level to maintain the shader's cinematic look without excessive processing overhead.
Verify Results
Stand in direct sunlight and observe shadow edges on blocks and terrain. Shadows should appear smooth and natural rather than pixelated. If performance remains poor, consider reducing shadow distance further or enabling a performance mode if available.
