Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware

Identify Performance Bottlenecks

Check your current frame rate using F3 debug screen. If performance dips below your target, the shader settings need adjustment. Lumeau is built for older PCs, but optimization depends on your specific hardware.

Reduce Shader Load

Access shader settings and lower these values:

  • Shadow distance: Reduce significantly; shadows close to the player matter most visually.
  • Water quality: Disable or reduce wave complexity if water rendering causes stuttering.
  • Light render distance: Limits how far colored lighting calculations extend.
  • Ambient occlusion: Disable if performance is critical; this darkens crevices and adds depth but costs processing power.

Monitor and Balance

After each adjustment, return to your world and check frame rates in different environments—open sky, dense forests, and underground. Aim for stable performance while maintaining the visual improvements that make the shader worthwhile. The mod is designed to scale, so even minimal settings should look better than vanilla while running smoothly.
