Troubleshoot Cloud Rendering Issues

Common Cloud Display Problems

If your clouds aren't appearing at the height you set, or if they look incorrect, check these factors:

Verification Steps

First, confirm the shader is actually active in your Video Settings. Lower Clouds Shaders only affects clouds when enabled—if you've disabled it or switched shaders, changes won't apply.

Check that your shader configuration file hasn't been overwritten. If you updated your shader pack or Minecraft, settings may reset to defaults. Reapply your preferred cloud height.

Verify your graphics card supports the shader modifications. Very old or integrated graphics may have compatibility issues with shader tweaks. Try adjusting other shader settings to see if they respond—if not, the shader may not be loading properly.

Performance Considerations

If clouds render but cause lag, this is usually a GPU limitation rather than a mod issue. Try raising cloud height slightly or reducing other shader quality settings. Lower clouds require more rendering overhead since they're closer to the camera and cover more of your view.

If clouds flicker or disappear at certain angles, this is typically a far-plane clipping issue—adjust your render distance or cloud height settings.
