Adjust Cloud Height to Match Your Terrain

Finding Your Ideal Cloud Level

Lower Clouds Shaders lets you customize exactly where clouds render in your world. This is especially useful when you have tall mountains, towers, or custom terrain that reaches high into the sky.

How to Change Cloud Height

Access the shader settings through your shader configuration menu (usually found in Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options). Look for cloud-related parameters—these typically control the Y-coordinate where clouds render.

Start with the default height of 128 and adjust incrementally. Lower values bring clouds closer to ground level, which creates a more dramatic effect around tall structures. Higher values move them back toward the vanilla position.

Testing Your Changes

After adjusting, load into your world and fly or climb to different heights to see how the clouds interact with your terrain. Pay attention to:

  • Whether clouds now obscure your tall builds
  • How the sky gradient looks with clouds at the new level
  • Performance impact (very low clouds may affect rendering)

If the effect feels too extreme, try a middle ground between the default and your preferred setting. You can always fine-tune further.
