Using Lootr on a Multiplayer Server: Setup and Behaviour

Server and Client Requirements

Lootr must be installed on the server and on every client that connects. If a client does not have it, that client will not see per-player loot behaviour and may desync with the server. Install the mod in the server's mod folder and in each player's client instance before anyone joins.

How Loot Spawns Per Player

When a player opens a naturally generated loot container for the first time, the container generates loot for that player only. The player sees an unopened container; other players who have not yet looted it also see an unopened container with their own separate loot. Once a player has looted a container, it shows as opened to them and cannot be looted again by that player.

Practical Consequences

  • Two players can each loot the same dungeon chest and both receive a full roll of loot.
  • A player cannot farm the same container repeatedly — after looting, it stays opened for them.
  • Containers you place yourself are not affected; they act as ordinary chests with shared contents.
  • Because each player gets their own loot, splitting up to cover more structures is efficient: everyone can loot every container they find.

Verifying on the Server

After setup, join with two accounts and open the same naturally generated chest. If both see unopened containers and receive separate loot, the server and clients are configured correctly.
