Lock Tiers and Lock Mechanisms Explained

The Five Lock Tiers

The Locks Mod provides five lock tiers, from weakest to strongest:

• Wood Lock — crafted from Wood Lock Mechanism
• Iron Lock — crafted from Iron Lock Mechanism
• Steel Lock — crafted from Steel Lock Mechanism
• Gold Plated Lock — a plated upgrade tier
• Diamond Plated Lock — the top plated tier

Each lock is made with a shaped crafting recipe. The Lock Mechanism is the core component; the surrounding materials determine the tier.

Matching Lock Picks to Locks

Lock Picks follow the same tier ladder. Use the Lock Pick tier that matches the lock:

• Bobby Pin Lock Pick — Wood Locks
• Iron Lock Pick — Iron Locks
• Gold Lock Pick — Gold Plated Locks
• Steel Lock Pick — Steel Locks
• Diamond Lock Pick — Diamond Plated Locks

A Lock Pick below the lock tier fails. A Lock Pick at or above the tier succeeds.

Keys and Master Keys

Every lock can be matched to a Key cut from a Key Blank. Keys stack on a Key Ring. A Master Key opens any lock it has been matched to, making it useful for bases with many locked blocks.

Springs and Mechanisms

Springs are used alongside Lock Mechanisms in the crafting recipes for locks. Gather Springs before you start crafting a new tier so you are not left with an unfinished lock.
