Taming and Keeping Living Things Mobs

Spawn the Mob You Want

Every creature in the mod has its own spawn egg. Use the matching egg to bring one into the world: Crab Spawn Egg, Elephant Spawn Egg, Flamingo Spawn Egg, Giraffe Spawn Egg, Koala Spawn Egg, Lion Spawn Egg, Mantaray Spawn Egg, Monkey Spawn Egg, Ostrich Spawn Egg, Owl Spawn Egg, Peacock Spawn Egg, Penguin Spawn Egg, Raccoon Spawn Egg, Seahorse Spawn Egg, Shark Spawn Egg, Shroomie Spawn Egg, Snail Spawn Egg, Baby Enderdragon Spawn Egg, Ancient Blaze Spawn Egg, and Nether Knight Spawn Egg.

Feeding and Holding

Hold the food the mob accepts and right-click it repeatedly. Bananas are the reliable hand-feed item for several passive mobs, including Monkeys. Keep feeding until hearts appear, then stop — over-feeding wastes items. Tamed mobs follow you and stay near your base.

Special Cases

Some mobs are not tamed by feeding:

  • Seahorses are captured with a Seahorse Bucket rather than fed.
  • Baby Enderdragons and Ancient Blazes are hostile-leaning spawns; treat them as combat encounters, not pets.
  • Ostriches are bred through the Ostrich Nest and Ostrich Egg loop rather than by hand-feeding alone.

Gear and Reference

Craft the LivingThings Lexicon to look up each mob's drops and behavior in-game. Wear the Ancient Helmet when dealing with Ancient Blazes and Nether Knights. Kill Sharks for Shark Tooth and Crabs for Crab Shell if you need crafting materials from hostile spawns.
