How to Hatch an Ostrich Egg with the Ostrich Nest

Build the Nest First

Place an Ostrich Nest block where you want your ostrich to hatch. The nest is the only block in the mod that supports incubation, so the egg must sit on it rather than on dirt or grass.

Get and Place the Egg

Obtain an Ostrich Egg from an Ostrich Spawn Egg or from breeding adult ostriches you have already spawned in. Right-click the Ostrich Nest with the Ostrich Egg to set it down. Leave the nest loaded and undisturbed — if you break the nest or move the egg, incubation resets.

Raise the Chick

Once the egg hatches, an Ostrich Spawn Egg-spawned ostrich chick appears. Feed it and keep it near the nest until it matures. Adult ostriches drop Raw Ostrich Meat, which you can process three ways:

• Campfire cooking on a campfire
• Smelting in a furnace
• Smoking in a smoker

All three produce Cooked Ostrich Meat. If you want a renewable supply, keep at least one adult pair alive and collect more Ostrich Eggs from them instead of killing every bird you hatch.
