How to Set Up Auto-Fishing with an Auto-Fishing Barge

Build the fishing vessel

Place an Auto-Fishing Barge in water. Attach a Tug to move it: craft a Steam Tug or Energy Tug, then connect it to the barge using a Vehicle Chain. The chain links the tug to the barge so they travel as one unit.

Route the barge

Place Tug Guide Rail blocks along the water path you want the tug to follow. At the end of the route, place a Tug Dock. Right-click the Tug Dock with a Tug Route to record the path; the tug reads the route and follows the guide rails to the dock. The Auto-Fishing Barge fishes while the tug moves it through water.

Collect the catch

Attach a Chest Barge behind the Auto-Fishing Barge with another Vehicle Chain, or dock the fishing barge at a Barge Dock. A Barge Dock accepts items from the barge and outputs them to an adjacent inventory such as a Chest. Use a Fluid Hopper if you also want to move fluid outputs into a Fluid Tank Barge or storage.

Keep it running

Place a Chunk Loader Barge in the train so the route stays loaded while you are away. Without a loaded chunk, the tug and barge stop moving and fishing halts. A Vehicle Detector placed along the route can signal when the vessel passes, letting you trigger redstone devices at the dock.
