How to Move Fluids with a Fluid Hopper and Fluid Tank Barge

Place the Fluid Hopper

Put a Fluid Hopper where you want to pull fluid from. It behaves like a hopper but handles fluids instead of items. Point its output toward a Fluid Tank Barge or a Tug Dock that connects to your vessel. The Fluid Hopper transfers fluid into the tank barge when the barge is docked.

Load the Fluid Tank Barge

Place a Fluid Tank Barge in water and chain it to a Tug with a Vehicle Chain. Dock the barge at a Tug Dock or Barge Dock so the Fluid Hopper can fill it. Once filled, the tug pulls the barge along Tug Guide Rail to the destination dock.

Unload at the destination

At the receiving end, place another Fluid Hopper next to the dock, oriented to pull fluid out of the Fluid Tank Barge and push it into a tank or machine. The Fluid Hopper moves the fluid from the barge into your storage.

Rail alternative

For land transport, use a Fluid Tank Train Car instead of a barge. Chain it to a Steam Locomotive or Energy Locomotive with a Vehicle Chain, route it with a Locomotive Route, and use a Locomotive Docking Rail or Train Car Docking Rail at each end. Fluid Hoppers at both docks load and unload the train car the same way they handle the barge.
