Enhance Visibility in Dark Caves and Dungeons

Adjust Ambient Light Levels

In shader settings, increase ambient occlusion or global illumination values. This brightens shadowed areas without removing shadows entirely, making caves readable without torches while preserving atmosphere.

Boost Torch and Light Source Brightness

Look for a "light emission" or "torch brightness" slider. Increasing this makes torches, lanterns, and glowstone more effective at illuminating surroundings. Paired with increased light spread distance, a single torch now lights a wider area.

Enable Adaptive Brightness (if available)

Some shader packs include eye adaptation or dynamic brightness that automatically brightens the screen when you enter dark spaces. This mimics real-world vision adjustment and reduces the need for constant torch placement.

Test Underground

Descend into a cave or dungeon and verify visibility. You should be able to navigate and spot mobs without excessive squinting. If caves feel too bright, dial back ambient light slightly to maintain challenge while keeping gameplay fair.
