Adjust Lighting Intensity and Shadow Darkness
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game. This is typically found in Video Settings under Shaders, then a dedicated options button for your active shader pack.
Modify Lighting Parameters
Look for sliders or toggles controlling:
- Shadow intensity: Decrease to soften dark areas, increase for more dramatic contrast
- Brightness levels: Adjust overall scene brightness without affecting block colors
- Light spread: Control how far light from torches and other sources travels
Fine-tune for Your Preference
Start with default values and make small adjustments. Test changes in different lighting conditions—caves, night sky, and indoors—to see how modifications affect visibility and atmosphere. Some settings may impact framerates slightly; if performance drops, reduce shadow quality or light render distance.
Save and Apply
Confirm your changes. The shader will reload automatically. If results look too dark or washed out, return to settings and rebalance until the world feels right for your playstyle.
