How to Craft and Hang Lanterns and Wall Lanterns

Lantern blocks include Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern, and Festive Lantern. Each has a matching wall version: Bell Wall Lantern, Chain Wall Lantern, Covered Wall Lantern, Cross Wall Lantern, and Festive Wall Lantern. The hanging lanterns are crafted as shaped recipes and the wall variants are typically derived from the same materials. Craft the hanging version first, then the wall version if you want it mounted on a vertical surface.

Hanging vs Wall Mounting

Hang a Bell Lantern, Chain Lantern, Covered Lantern, Cross Lantern, or Festive Lantern from a ceiling or from the underside of a block to drop light into a room. Use the matching Wall Lantern on the side of a block to light a corridor, doorway, or exterior wall without using ceiling space. Chain Lantern and Chain Wall Lantern pair well with Golden Chain for a decorative drop. Mix lantern styles in one build to vary the silhouette: Bell for entries, Cross for chapels, Festive for holiday builds, Covered for rustic cottages.
