Enable PBR Material Reflections on Custom Blocks

Understanding Material Properties

Lemony Shaders uses PBR (Physically Based Rendering) to determine how blocks reflect light. By default, smooth vanilla blocks like polished stone and metal blocks will show realistic shine. If your custom blocks aren't reflecting light as expected, you may need to adjust their material settings.

Configuring Block Reflectivity

Open your shader configuration file (usually found in your shader pack folder). Look for material or PBR settings that control surface smoothness and metallic properties. Blocks with higher smoothness values will display clearer reflections, while rougher surfaces will scatter light more diffusely.

For best results:

  • Apply PBR settings to blocks with flat, uniform textures
  • Polished and smooth variant blocks respond best to reflections
  • Metallic-looking blocks (iron, copper, gold) will show the most dramatic shine
  • Rough blocks like dirt and wood will show minimal reflection, which is intentional

Test your changes by standing near water or reflective surfaces in different lighting conditions. Adjust smoothness values incrementally until reflections appear natural and match the vanilla aesthetic.
