Optimize Performance on Lower-End Hardware
Check Shader Intensity Settings
Open the Kolor Shaders configuration menu. Look for options labeled shadow quality, shadow distance, or render distance adjustments. Lowering shadow quality reduces the computational load while maintaining the shader's visual character.
Disable or Reduce Advanced Effects
Search the settings for toggles related to ambient occlusion, parallax mapping, or screen-space reflections. Disabling these effects significantly improves frame rates on systems with limited GPU power. The core color grading and lighting will remain intact.
Adjust Render Distance
If the shader settings include render distance controls, reduce this value. Fewer chunks rendered means less work for your GPU. Pair this with Minecraft's own render distance setting for cumulative improvement.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use an in-game FPS counter (F3 on Java Edition) to measure performance after each change. Make adjustments incrementally—disable one feature, test, then move to the next. This helps identify which settings impact your specific hardware most.
Fallback Option
If performance remains poor, consider using a lighter shader pack or playing without shaders while keeping Iris installed for future use.
