Use Your Totem Effectively in Survival Mode

Understand When Kirby Activates

Your Totem of Undying (now Kirby) activates automatically when you take fatal damage while holding it in your hand or offhand slot. It restores your health and grants temporary effects to help you survive the hit that would have killed you.

Equip Kirby for Dangerous Situations

Before entering high-risk areas—like the Nether, End, or deep caves—place your Totem in your offhand slot. This keeps it ready without taking up a main inventory slot. You can swap it in and out as needed.

Carry Multiple Totems

If you have several Totems, keep them in your hotbar or offhand. Each one provides one activation, so multiple totems give you multiple chances to survive catastrophic damage.

Remember the Cooldown

After Kirby saves you, you'll be vulnerable for a moment. Use the brief invulnerability window to move away from danger, heal, or prepare your next move. Don't immediately re-engage threats.
