Setting Up Smoke Detectors and Fire Alarms

Detecting Smoke

Place a Smoke Detector on the ceiling of any room where fire is a risk. When smoke is present, the detector triggers. Use the Smoke Detector (silent) variant in bedrooms or quiet areas where you do not want an audible alert but still want the detection.

Mount detectors in kitchens, storage rooms, and near any furnace array. A single detector covers the space around it, so spread them out across large builds.

Wiring the Alarm

Connect detection to an alert using the Fire Alarm Bell, Fire Alarm Siren, and Fire Alarm Switch. The Fire Alarm Switch lets you trigger the alarm manually, while the Bell and Siren provide the audible warning. Place the Bell or Siren where it can be heard across the base, such as a central hallway.

Combine a Smoke Detector with a Fire Alarm Bell or Fire Alarm Siren so that smoke sets off the alarm automatically. Test the setup by triggering the Fire Alarm Switch and confirming the Bell or Siren sounds. Once verified, leave the switch in an accessible spot so anyone can raise the alarm if they spot fire before the detector does.
