Prepare Your World Before Installing the Mod

Important Setup Steps

Just Like Rays Mod changes how your world stores light data. Existing worlds can be converted, but preparation prevents issues and ensures smooth lighting transitions.

Before Loading the Mod

1. Backup your save. Copy your world folder to a safe location. If anything goes wrong, you can restore the original.

2. Start fresh or convert carefully. You can load an existing world with the mod installed, but new worlds will have correct light calculations from the start. Consider starting a new world to experience the mod as intended.

3. Load your world with the mod active. Once installed, open your world normally. The mod begins tracking light from that point forward.

4. Optimize immediately. Go to World Settings > Edit > Optimize World > Erase Cached Data. This recalculates lighting for all existing blocks, ensuring shadows and light halos appear correctly across your entire map.

5.** Optimization can take time on large worlds. Don't close the game during this process.

6. Verify results. After optimization completes, explore your world. Torches should cast circular light, and solid blocks should cast realistic shadows.
