How to Craft and Use the Palette

Crafting the Palette

The Palette is the tool you hold while painting on any Canvas variant. Craft it with the xercapaint:crafting_shaped recipe type, which places shaped ingredients in a standard crafting grid. Once crafted, the Palette stays in your inventory and is used to apply color to a Canvas, Glass Canvas, Large Canvas, Large Glass Canvas, Long Canvas, Long Glass Canvas, Tall Canvas, or Tall Glass Canvas.

Using the Palette

Place a Canvas or Easel in the world first. With the Palette in hand, interact with the canvas to open the painting interface. The Palette is what lets you select and apply colors; without it you cannot paint. Keep the Palette in your hotbar while you work so you can switch between colors quickly.

Painting Workflow

1. Craft a Palette.

2. Craft or place a Canvas (or mount it on an Easel).

3. Hold the Palette and right-click the canvas.

4. Apply colors, then close the interface to save the painting.

The same Palette works on every canvas size and on both the normal and Glass Canvas variants, so you only need one.
