Choosing Between Canvas, Glass Canvas, and Large Variants

Canvas Sizes

The mod registers canvases in three size families: Canvas, Large Canvas, and Tall Canvas, plus a Long Canvas. Each family also has a Glass Canvas counterpart: Glass Canvas, Large Glass Canvas, Tall Glass Canvas, and Long Glass Canvas. Size determines how much surface area you have to paint on, so pick the family that matches the artwork you want to make.

Glass vs Normal

Glass Canvas variants are separate registered blocks from their normal counterparts. A painting made on a Canvas cannot be copied onto a Glass Canvas and vice versa, because they are different items. Decide up front whether you want the glass look, then craft that variant and stay with it for the whole piece.

Mounting on an Easel

The Easel is the block used to display and work on a canvas upright. Place the Easel, then place your chosen canvas on it. Use the Palette while interacting with the mounted canvas to paint. The same Easel accepts any of the canvas sizes and either the normal or glass variant, so you can swap pieces without crafting a new Easel.
