Moving Items Between Shulker Box Tiers Safely

Contents Carry Through Upgrades

Every upgrade item in the chain preserves the contents of the box being upgraded. Whether you use Vanilla to Copper Shulker Box Upgrade, Copper to Iron Shulker Box Upgrade, or any later step, the items inside stay inside. You do not need to empty a box before upgrading it.

Safe Upgrade Procedure

Place the box and its matching upgrade item in the crafting grid together. Take the resulting box out. Verify the contents by opening it before you store it away. Because the upgrade is a crafting operation, do it at a crafting table where you can see the output clearly.

Avoid Mixing Upgrades

Each upgrade item targets one specific tier transition. Copper to Iron Shulker Box Upgrade only works on a Copper Shulker Box. Iron to Gold Shulker Box Upgrade only works on an Iron Shulker Box. Using the wrong upgrade with the wrong box will not produce the result you want, so keep upgrade items labeled or stored in separate chests.

Chain Upgrades in Order

If you are climbing multiple tiers, do them one at a time: Vanilla to Copper, then Copper to Iron, then Iron to Gold, then Gold to Diamond, then your chosen end tier. Doing them in sequence keeps your contents intact at every step and makes it easy to stop at any tier you like.
