Building a Full Shulker Box Storage Wall

Pick a Tier for the Wall

Choose one tier for the bulk of your wall so the boxes stack visually and behave consistently. Iron Shulker Box is a common choice because iron is renewable and the upgrade path from Copper is cheap. If you want the top tier, build the wall from Obsidian Shulker Box or Crystal Shulker Box instead.

Assign Colors to Categories

With sixteen colors per tier, you can dedicate one color per category. Use White Iron Shulker Box for food, Brown Iron Shulker Box for wood, Gray Iron Shulker Box for stone, Black Iron Shulker Box for ores, and so on. Because colors exist at every tier, your labeling scheme survives future upgrades.

Produce Boxes in Bulk

Start from vanilla shulker boxes and apply Vanilla to Copper Shulker Box Upgrade, then Copper to Iron Shulker Box Upgrade, to reach Iron Shulker Box in two steps. Repeat per box. If you want a colored wall, upgrade into the colored variant you need rather than dyeing after the fact.

Leave Room to Grow

Reserve empty slots in the wall for tiers you have not reached yet. When you are ready to move a section up to Gold Shulker Box or Diamond Shulker Box, apply the matching upgrade item to each box in place and slide it back into its slot. Contents stay intact, so the wall never needs to be emptied during a tier change.
