Using the DirtChest 9000! and Its Trapped Version

What It Is

DirtChest 9000! is a standalone chest block. It is not part of the Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Crystal, or Obsidian progression, and no upgrade item in the mod converts it into a metal chest. Treat it as its own storage block with its own recipe.

There is also a Trapped DirtChest 9000!, crafted separately, which behaves as the trapped counterpart of the same block.

Practical Use

Because it sits outside the upgrade chain, plan where you place it. A DirtChest 9000! stays a DirtChest 9000! — you cannot spend a Wood to Copper Chest Upgrade or any other upgrade item on it to raise its tier. If you want a metal chest at that spot, break the DirtChest 9000! and place a chest you can upgrade instead.

The same applies to Trapped DirtChest 9000!: it does not feed into Trapped Copper Chest or any other trapped tier. Keep it for the role you built it for and use the metal chain for anything you intend to upgrade later.

If you are organizing a storage room, decide early which slots are permanent DirtChest 9000! blocks and which are the start of an upgrade path. Mixing them up means breaking and replacing blocks later.
