Lay Out for Upgrades

Place chests with the upgrade chain in mind. Every metal chest can be raised one tier in place, keeping its contents, so you never need to move items to a new block. Reserve your best spots — near your crafting area or main walkway — for chests you intend to push to Diamond, Crystal, or Obsidian later.

Remember the two end options: Diamond to Crystal Chest Upgrade and Diamond to Obsidian Chest Upgrade both start from a Diamond Chest. Decide per chest which final tier you want before you commit the diamond step.

Trapped Chests in the Same Room

Trapped variants follow the same chain, so a Trapped Copper Chest can become a Trapped Iron Chest, then Trapped Gold Chest, Trapped Diamond Chest, and finally either Trapped Crystal Chest or Trapped Obsidian Chest. Keep trapped and untrapped chests in separate rows so you do not apply the wrong upgrade item.

Shortcuts and Exceptions

Wood to Iron Chest Upgrade lets a wood chest skip Copper, which is useful for utility chests that do not need a Copper stage. DirtChest 9000! and Trapped DirtChest 9000! are outside the chain entirely — place them where you will not later want a metal tier, since no upgrade item will convert them.

Label or group chests by their intended final tier, and craft upgrades in batches so you always have the next step on hand.
