How to Get Started with Basalt Building Blocks

Mining and Processing Basalt

Basalt is your foundation stone. Mine it in basalt deltas, then run it through a furnace or stonecutter to unlock the full block family. Smelting raw basalt yields Cobbled Basalt, which is the base for several recipes.

From Cobbled Basalt you can craft Cobbled Basalt Slab and Cobbled Basalt Vertical Slab. Stonecutting Cobbled Basalt gives you cleaner variants without wasting material.

Crafting the Brick Family

Once you have Basalt Bricks, the decorative set opens up. From Basalt Bricks you can craft:

• Basalt Brick Slab
• Basalt Brick Stairs
• Basalt Brick Wall
• Basalt Brick Vertical Slab
• Chiseled Basalt Brick
• Cracked Basalt Bricks

Use a stonecutter on Basalt Bricks to produce slabs, stairs, walls, and vertical slabs efficiently. Chiseled Basalt Brick is a distinct decorative block for accent walls. Cracked Basalt Bricks give a weathered look for ruins-style builds.

Polished and Pressure Plate Options

Polished Basalt Slab and Polished Basalt Tiles are smoother finishes for floors and paths. Polished Basalt Pressure Plate works as a redstone trigger on those floors.

Basalt Button, Basalt Slab, Basalt Stairs, Basalt Vertical Slab, and Basalt Wall round out the plain basalt set. Combine plain, cobbled, polished, and brick variants in the same build to break up flat textures.
