Find a Nether Fortress Using Blaze Torches

Craft and Place Blaze Torches

Blaze torches are your navigation tool in the Nether. Craft them using blaze powder and a torch base, then place them on netherrack or other solid blocks. Each torch emits drifting particles that point directly toward the closest nether fortress in your world.

Navigate by Following Particles

Once placed, watch the particle stream flowing from the torch. The particles drift in the direction of the nearest fortress—follow them as your guide. If you need to reorient, place another torch ahead and check its particle direction to confirm you're on course.

Tips for Fortress Hunting

Place torches at regular intervals as you travel so you can backtrack if needed. Torches work best when you're in open areas where particles are visible. If particles seem unclear, move to higher ground for a better view. You can place multiple torches to triangulate the fortress location more precisely. This method is especially useful in the Nether's confusing terrain where visual landmarks are sparse.
