Building a Steam Power Plant with Boiler, Turbine, and Firebox
Assemble the Heat and Steam Loop
Steam power scales better than solar for a fixed base. Place a Firebox for Solid Fuel or a Firebox for Liquid Fuel, then set a Steam Boiler next to it. The Firebox provides heat; the Steam Boiler turns that heat into steam. Feed the boiler water through Fluid Pipe from a Fluid Tank or an Electric Pump drawing from a water source.
Convert Steam to Rotation and Power
Attach a Steam Turbine to the boiler output. Connect the turbine to a Turbine Shaft so the rotation reaches your generator. A Dam Turbine works on the same principle if you build a water-driven setup with a Dam Intake, Dam OutFlow, and Dam Generator.
Move the Power Out
Run Energy Cable MV or Energy Cable HV from the turbine to your factory floor. Use an Energy Breaker between sections so you can isolate a machine for maintenance. Place an Energy Level Indicator on the main line to confirm power is flowing.
Safety Around Steam
Steam builds are hot. Place Fire Prevention Hazard signs at the boiler and turbine, and keep a Safety and First Aid Hazard sign nearby. Use High Pressure Pipe for steam lines rather than standard Fluid Pipe where pressure is high. Store spare fuel in a Barrel next to the Firebox so refueling is quick.
