Automating Item Movement with Conveyors

Lay Down a Conveyor Line

Conveyor Bulk Basic is the entry-level belt. Place a line of them from your machine output to your storage area. Items placed on the belt travel along it automatically, so you can move ore, ingots, or components without hand-carrying them.

When you need more throughput, upgrade sections to Fast Bulk Conveyor, then Express Bulk Conveyor. Mixing tiers along one line is fine; the faster belts simply move items quicker.

Route Items Into Storage

Point the end of the conveyor at a Storage Rack (Chest) or Barrel. Items arriving on the belt drop into the container. If you want to sort, use separate lines for separate outputs and terminate each at its own container.

Crossings and Access

Where a conveyor crosses a walkway, use a Catwalk Gate or Hatch so players can pass. Build Catwalk and Steel Catwalk for raised walkways above the belts, and add Handrail or Steel Handrail along the edges. A Caged Ladder or Caged Steel Ladder gives safe vertical access to upper platforms.

Powering the Line

Conveyors need power. Run Energy Cable LV along the belt and connect each conveyor segment. Use an Energy Breaker at the start of the line so you can shut the whole run down at once when servicing it.
