How to Use Leaf Piles, Moss and Ground Cover

The ground cover set

The mod adds a large family of thin, placeable ground covers:

  • Leaf Piles: Acacia, Birch, Cherry, Dark Oak, Jungle, Mangrove, Azalea, Flowering Azalea.
  • Plant covers: Azalea Flowers, Azalea Flower Pile, Dune Grass, Frosty Fern, Ivy, Moss Clump, Golden Moss Clump, Enchanted Golden Moss Clump.
  • Cold covers: Frost, Frosty Grass, Frosty Glass, Frosty Glass Pane, Icicle, Ice Sickle.
  • Soil covers: Earthen Clay, Grassy Earthen Clay, Earthen Clay Farmland, Loam, Loamy Farmland, Grassy Sandy Dirt, Grassy Silt, Grassy Permafrost, Mulch, Nulch.

Placing ground cover

Hold the block and right-click the top face of a solid block. The cover sits flush like a carpet. Break it with any tool to recover it. Leaf Piles and plant covers stack visually with each other, so you can layer Ivy over Moss Clump over Mulch for a dense forest floor.

Building a forest floor

A reliable pattern for a custom tree:

1. Place the matching Bark block as the trunk.

2. Ring the base with the matching Leaf Pile (for example, Birch Bark with Birch Leaf Pile).

3. Scatter Moss Clump and Ivy between the Leaf Piles.

4. Add Azalea Flowers or Azalea Flower Pile for color.

5. Fill gaps with Mulch or Nulch to hide dirt.

For cold biomes, swap the leaf layer for Frost, Frosty Grass and Frosty Fern, and hang Icicle from overhangs. For sandy areas, use Dune Grass and Grassy Sandy Dirt. The soil covers also let you build paths that read as trodden ground rather than bare dirt.
