Mixing Metal Fences and Rods for Decorative Builds

Pick a Palette

You have nine metals to work with: Constantan, Copper, Electrum, Gold, Iron, Lead, Nickel, Silver, and Uranium. Each has a Fence and a Rod. Choose two or three that contrast — for example Gold with Iron, or Copper with Silver — and craft both the Fence and the Rod for each metal you pick. All of these are shaped recipes, so check the grid pattern before crafting.

Alternate Fence and Rod

Run one metal's Fence as the main line and use a second metal's Rod as the upright between sections. Because every metal has both pieces, you can swap which one leads: a Copper Fence with Silver Rods reads differently from a Silver Fence with Copper Rods. Keep the alternation regular — one rod every few fence blocks — so the pattern looks deliberate rather than random.

Use Posts as Accents

The Extendable Post is metal-neutral, so it fits any palette. Place it at corners, at the ends of a run, or as a standalone pillar. Topping an Extendable Post with a Gold Fence while the surrounding run uses Iron Fence draws the eye to that point without extra blocks.

Keep It Consistent

Decide the rule for your build before you place the first block: which metal is the fence, which is the rod, and where posts go. Following one rule across the whole structure keeps a mixed-metal build from looking cluttered.
