How to Refine Crude Oil into Fuels with the Distillation Tower

Feeding the Tower

Crude oil from your Pumpjack and Derrick setup goes into a Distillation Tower. This is the core refining block. Route Bucket of Crude Oil or piped crude into the tower to begin separation into usable fractions.

Outputs and What They Are For

The Distillation Tower splits crude oil into several products, each collected as a bucket:

• Bucket of Diesel — fuel for generators and vehicles.
• Bucket of Gasoline — fuel, and the base for Gasoline Bottle and Molotov.
• Bucket of Kerosene — fuel and further processing.
• Bucket of Naphtha — feedstock for higher-value products.
• Bucket of Petroleum Gas — light fraction for further refining.
• Bucket of Lubricant — used with the Automatic Lubricator and Lubricant Can.
• Bitumen — heavy residue for asphalt and coking.

For heavier upgrading, feed fractions into the High-Pressure Refinery Unit. For the heaviest residue, use a Coker to convert material into Petcoke and Petcoke Dust. Store fuels in an Oil Tank or in buckets. Excess or unwanted gas can be burned off with a Flarestack.
