How to Power Machines with the Portable Generator

Fueling the Generator

The Portable Generator burns liquid fuel to produce power. Place it where you need power, then feed it a fuel bucket. Valid fuels come from refining crude oil in a Distillation Tower:

• Bucket of Diesel
• Bucket of Gasoline
• Bucket of Kerosene

Diesel is the common choice for steady machine power. Gasoline works too and can also be bottled as a Gasoline Bottle for portable use.

Keeping Fuel Flowing

Produce your fuel supply by pumping crude with a Derrick and Pumpjack, then refining it in a Distillation Tower. Store bulk fuel in an Oil Tank so you can refill the generator without re-crafting buckets each time.

Lubrication and Byproducts

Machines that need lubrication use Bucket of Lubricant, applied via the Automatic Lubricator or carried in a Lubricant Can. Lubricant is another Distillation Tower output, so a single refining setup supplies both power fuel and lubricant.

Dispose of unwanted light gas fractions with a Flarestack rather than letting them accumulate. For heavier residue, a Coker turns it into Petcoke and Petcoke Dust, which can be stored as Block of Petcoke. Keep the generator near your machines and top it up from your Oil Tank.
